The short version
The numbers, names, and entries you type into our tools stay in your browser. We never see them and have no server that stores them. The only personal data we collect is your email address if you choose to give it to us, and standard anonymous analytics about how the site is used.
Who we are
Tally Together ("we", "us") operates this website. We are based in the United Kingdom. For anything privacy-related, contact us at hello@tallytogether.org.
Data you enter into our tools
The Contribution Tracker, TOLATA Position Indicator, and Joint Asset Splitter run entirely in your browser. Names, amounts, dates, and answers you enter are stored in your browser's local storage on your own device. This data is never transmitted to us or to any third party by the tools themselves.
- Share links: if you use the "export as link" feature, your data is encoded into the link itself. Anyone you send that link to can see the data it contains — share it only with people you trust.
- Clearing your data: use the "Clear all data" button in each tool, or clear your browser's site data, to delete everything permanently.
Data we do collect
- Email address: only if you submit one of our email forms (for example, to be notified about new tools). Forms are processed by Netlify, our hosting provider. We use your email only for the purpose you gave it for, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
- Analytics: we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used — pages visited, approximate location (country/city level), device type. GA4 does not log your IP address and we do not use it to identify individuals.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use local storage (for your tool data, as described above) and Google Analytics cookies (for anonymous usage statistics). If we introduce advertising in future (for example Google AdSense), advertising cookies may be used to show relevant ads; we will update this policy before that happens.
Legal bases
Under UK GDPR, we process your email address on the basis of your consent, and analytics data on the basis of our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the site.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your data. The only third parties involved are our service providers: Netlify (hosting and form processing) and Google (analytics). Both process data under their own privacy terms and applicable data-processing agreements.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you (in practice, this is limited to your email address if you gave us one), to withdraw consent, and to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. To exercise any of these rights, email us.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data — for example, when introducing advertising — we will update this page and change the date at the top.
